AION 2 global launch tier list
| Tier | Classes | What the tier means |
|---|---|---|
| S | Gladiator, Ranger, Cleric | Clear role, broadly useful identity, and a sensible first-character plan. |
| A | Templar, Chanter, Spiritmaster | Strong purpose, with extra responsibility or more systems to manage. |
| B | Sorcerer, Assassin | Potentially excellent, but timing and positioning punish early mistakes. |
Why the classes land here
Gladiator
Durability and direct area pressure make learning encounters less brittle.
Ranger
Distance gives new players more time to read attacks, while movement stays important.
Cleric
A direct healing identity creates obvious party value, though the role carries responsibility.
Templar
Excellent if you want to tank, but route and mechanic knowledge become part of the job.
Chanter
Flexible support is valuable, even when its contribution is less visible than raw damage.
Spiritmaster
Summons and control suit tactical solo play, with a busier learning curve.
Sorcerer
Strong spell windows reward control and positioning, but pressure can ruin the plan.
Assassin
Short range and commitment reward mastery more than first-session comfort.

How we rank responsibly
NC has already made major class-balance changes in the regional service, including new Stigma skills. That makes exact pre-launch power claims fragile. We therefore weigh role clarity, forgiveness, range, party responsibility, and the number of systems a new player must track.
What would change these rankings?
| Evidence | Likely effect | Update standard |
|---|---|---|
| Global class or Stigma tuning | Changes forgiveness, role clarity, or key rotations | Cite the global patch and update affected classes |
| Dungeon and raid mechanics | Changes demand for tanks, healing, control, range, or mobility | Separate progression value from farm-speed value |
| PvP rules and gear normalization | Can produce a ranking unlike PvE | Create a separate PvP list instead of blending modes |
| Reliable repeatable testing | May support performance comparisons | Publish conditions, sample limits, and patch version |
| Popularity alone | Does not prove power | Use only as a demand or accessibility signal |
Tier-list FAQ
What is the best class in AION 2?
There is no confirmed universal best class. Gladiator is our safest general recommendation; the best class for you depends on role and combat distance.
Why is Assassin only B tier?
This list ranks launch-day comfort, not maximum potential. Assassin may reward mastery while being less forgiving to a new player.
Will this list change?
Yes. It should change when the global client, encounters, and reliable performance data are available.
