Who should play Ranger?
You enjoy movement
You want ranged pressure and like turning positioning into an active skill.
You dislike kiting
Being cornered removes much of the safety that makes the class comfortable.
| Range | Ranged |
| Identity | Mobile physical damage |
| Learning curve | Approachable |
| Group responsibility | Consistent pressure and mechanics |
Four habits to learn early
Move before space disappears
Reposition proactively instead of waiting until enemies reach you.
Keep the camera wide
Your range is most valuable when you can read enemies and mechanics together.
Separate movement from panic
Use planned paths so kiting does not pull extra enemies or abandon allies.
Learn safe damage windows
Movement is not the goal by itself; create moments where you can attack reliably.
Your job in a group
Maintain damage while handling mechanics that favor range. Stay close enough for healing and party effects, and avoid drifting so far away that support cannot reach you.
Launch practice plan
| Basic loop | Create distance, apply reliable pressure, move before danger arrives, and preserve one tool for forced repositioning. |
| Before a dungeon | Know effective range, movement restrictions during attacks, control options, and where mechanics force the party to stack. |
| Common mistake | Retreating so far that healing, buffs, or the next objective becomes unreachable. |
| Verify at launch | Range breakpoints, movement casting, ammunition or resource rules, Stigma behavior, and party utility. |
Starter build direction
Favor a dependable attack loop, one movement answer, and utility that preserves uptime. The regional update introduced Supporting Fire as a Ranger Stigma; verify its global effect before building around it.
1. Secure one repeatable damage loop
Prioritize a reliable low-commitment attack sequence before adding narrow burst options. You need something usable while learning movement and encounter timing.
2. Keep one movement skill available
Do not spend every repositioning tool for extra damage. Reserve one answer for closing enemies, ground effects, or a forced mechanic.
3. Add one control or disengage option
A slow, root, knockback, or equivalent spacing tool is valuable only if the global skill text confirms it works on your target type.
4. Build for consistent physical pressure first
Favor broadly useful physical-damage and uptime improvements before investing in a specialized PvP, boss-only, or critical-window setup.
5. Delay expensive enhancement commitments
Use early quest and dungeon gear long enough to identify a durable upgrade. Estimate the expected cost before spending scarce Kina or protection materials.
