Make choices in this order

Service region

Choose for latency, supported location, language, and the people you will play with.

Server

Agree on one primary server and one backup before launch traffic begins.

Faction

Friends must align on Elyos or Asmodian where faction separation applies.

Class

Pick by preferred combat distance and party role, with one backup class ready.

Name and appearance

Prepare them last so social compatibility is never sacrificed for cosmetics.

Prepare a three-name ladder

Write one preferred name, one clean variation, and one completely different backup. Avoid relying only on extra symbols or hard-to-read substitutions; a memorable name is easier for friends and guildmates to recognize.

Primary

Your best short name

Easy to type, pronounce, and remember.

Variation

A natural alternative

A meaningful suffix or second word, not random clutter.

Backup

A different strong name

Useful if naming rules reject the first idea entirely.

Do not use names that impersonate staff, contain harassment, or depend on characters that may not be supported. Exact global naming rules are not yet confirmed.

Coordinate with friends

Send one final message containing region, server, backup server, faction, and expected login time. Ask every player to confirm. A screenshot of the agreed plan is more reliable than searching through launch-day chat.

Best rule: create on the agreed server and faction first. Do not switch silently because another server has a shorter queue.

Use an appearance time limit

Decide your broad look in advance and give yourself a fixed creation window. Save perfection for later only if the global client confirms safe appearance-change options; do not assume they will be free.

If character creation is restricted

Read the exact restriction

Identify whether it applies to the server, faction, region, new accounts, or only a temporary capacity window.

Keep the group together

Do not create elsewhere until your group confirms whether to wait or move to the shared backup server.

Protect the irreversible choices

Do not choose the opposite faction or spend a paid item simply to get past a temporary restriction.

Recheck official notices

Use announced reopening times or capacity changes instead of repeatedly deleting and recreating characters.

A shorter queue is not automatically a better long-term server. Friends, faction, region, and language remain more important than the first hour.

Rules to verify at launch

Question Current guidance
Are names unique per server, region, or account? Not globally confirmed; prepare backups.
Can deleted names be reused immediately? Do not assume it.
How many character slots are free? Wait for the global client or official notice.
Can faction or server be changed later? Treat the first choice as permanent until confirmed otherwise.
Is appearance editing free? Assume changes may be limited or paid.
